Kulsoom Abdullah started out as a CrossFitter and eventually became an Olympic Lifter. However, Kulsoom lifts fully covered in a hijab, and is not allowed by the IWF to compete in national and international events. Kulsoom petitioned the IWF on a compromise that would allow her to further her Olympic Lifting career and, in the process, become a spokesperson for women living under different cultural beliefs to be included in the athletic community on an Olympic level. Travis Harkey of CrossFit North Atlanta recognized the importance of play in his kids life. Because of that, he started up a Kids program at his gym in hopes to create a place for kids to learn how to be fit and have fun at the same time.
